Craig has been the senior pastor of Gateway for over 20 years. Craig and his wife, Barbara, have two sons and a daughter. He graduated from Northern Illinois University and Bethel Seminary. Craig is a diehard, lifelong Cubs fan (“this is their year!” he says each year). He enjoys applying the teachings of the Bible to our everyday needs. He thinks most of his jokes are pretty good.
Jackie Gelvin - Children's Pastor

The children's ministry at Gateway Community Church centers around Jackie's philosophy that church should be FUN for kids. Children's ministry works hard to make classes and events exciting and relevant for kids. Jackie has worked with kids for 16 years at Gateway, and joined the staff as the Children's Pastor in July of 1992.

Karissa could not be more excited to have the opportunity to serve the students and their families here at Gateway Community Church. Karissa is a San Diego native with Alabama roots, and she just graduated from Biola University in May 2006. She's known since she was a teenager that God can do great things through young people; and her heart is to help students realize that God is not waiting until they graduate from high school to use them...He wants to use them now!
Suzanne Harper - Music/Creative Arts Director

Suzanne believes that everyone is created with a desire to connect with God. Her goal as the Creative Arts Director at Gateway Community Church is to provide a variety of quality ways for everyone to make that connection...yes, worship is much more than just singing! She believes that when you step out and worship God - whether through music, media, or drama - that God shows up! He never disappoints when we put our hearts on the line! Suzanne believes that worship is not just an action, but an attitude of the heart.
Larry "Cliff" Clifford - NextGeneration Pastor

Cliff recently joined the Gateway Family and heads the "NextGeneration" (18-30 somethings) ministry. He moved to San Diego in September '06 just before marrying his wife, Vanessa, a native San Diegan, in December '06. He LOVES sports and has played just about every sport one can think of, except maybe Cricket or Rugby. You may catch him reminiscing on his "glory days" when he played football for the Air Force Academy and UNLV from time to time. He loves the Lord immensely and is in awe of what God has done in his life. Cliff has such a heart to serve his younger brothers and sisters in Christ, and be a witness to their spiritual growth. He is excited to see God in action here at Gateway. Cliff's favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 3:5-6

Janet is the newest member of our Gateway Staff. She and her husband Ralph have been attending Gateway since 2003. Janet is excited about serving God in this new chapter of her life. She grew up here in the Escondido area and had worked for 3M for almost 30 years. Janet enjoys photography, scrapbooking, traveling and most of all, Monday night "game night" with her family.
